League History

The league started in 1995 as a doubles league at the Hull Megabowl, St Andrews Quay (which has now been demolished) and

bowled all year around, with summer and winter leagues. The league spent three seasons here before moving to its new home at

AMF Hull Bowl in 1997 for the summer season and merged with the late Tuesday league already at Hull Bowl. The league went to

trios for just one season, before switching back to doubles, the league continued to bowl summer and winter leagues . The league

has had several other Tuesday leagues join over the years, with only a few teams joining from the other leagues. The league

switched to a winter only league for the 2001-2002 season, as the number of teams for the summer leagues dwindled

and has continued to bowl as a winter only doubles league ever since.

Since its inception the league has had 4 league secretaries. The first was Pat Parkinson who started the league in 1995. Pat

stayed as secretary when the league moved to AMF Hull Bowl and stepped down as league secretary a few seasons later. The

second league secretary was Lawrence Atkinson who stayed in charge for a few seasons, before being replaced by the third

league secretary Trudy Hockless. Trudy stayed in charge up to and including the 2000-2001 winter season. The fourth and present

league secretary Paul Myers has been in charge since the 2001 summer season and is the longest serving league secretary of the

Late Tuesday Doubles.
